Che Guevara’s Failed Revolution in Congo
June 4, 2026
Description
Che Guevara’s failed revolution in Congo became one of the greatest disasters of his revolutionary life.
In 1965, after vanishing from Cuba, Che Guevara resurfaced in the jungles of the Congo to support the Simba Rebellion and open a new front in the global revolution.
But instead of a disciplined guerrilla army, he found chaos, poor coordination, language barriers, disease, and a collapsing rebellion. After seven months of painful defeats, Che would later describe the mission with one devastating line:
“This is the history of a failure.”
This video explores Che Guevara’s secret Congo mission, the failure of the Simba Rebellion, and the road that would eventually lead him to his final stand in Bolivia.
