History can feel distant when it arrives as a sequence of dates and outcomes. Look closer, and there are people making choices without knowing what comes next. Their hopes, fears and everyday lives are part of the story. That is where our interest begins.

The person behind Historium
Ahmet Maniş
Founder & Creative Director
Ahmet Maniş founded Historium out of a longstanding interest in history. His academic background spans food engineering, electronics engineering, public administration and political science. Historium gives that curiosity a home in film, writing and music.
He directs the platform’s editorial and creative work, remaining closely involved in research, writing and production. He is especially drawn to the lives that broad accounts of history can overlook: people facing loss, injustice or decisions made far beyond their control.
That interest carries a responsibility. A person’s suffering deserves the same care regardless of nationality, religion or background. This conviction shapes the stories he chooses and the way Historium approaches them.
Editorial care
Context matters as much as the story.
A compelling account still needs careful questions: what does the evidence show, what is an interpretation, and what remains uncertain? Our editorial standards set out how we approach sources, archival images, authorship and corrections.
If you notice an error or have a source that adds to a story, please get in touch. Good historical work leaves room to look again.
